Correspondents of Cooper and his son include the younger's wife, Sarah Maria Mason Cooper, James Champy, who writes about plantations and life in the West Indies, James Murray Mason, John Mason, I.H. Offley, Harriet Eveline Cooper, Jefferson Davis, General Beauregard, and R.R. Stevenson. Correspondence of the younger Cooper also relates to his service in the Confederate army, with specific topics including the first Battle of Bull Run and the Andersonville prison in Georgia.
